A Homestead in the Making

This Friday, 12/9, it's all happening. We'll hop in David's car to head to the Asheville's lawyer's office to close on our new home: a cozy, private 25 acre parcel of raw land in the Little Pine community of Marshall, North Carolina. Having our own land, and for me my own farming homestead, has been a dream for both David and I that seemed so unattainable. We're so ecstatic it's finally happening, although we have no illusions that this will be easy or fast. But as my Dad's always said "Yah-Yah, you never do things the easy way." I've never wanted easy. We'll be starting completely from scratch - no road, no well, no septic, no electricity, no home. We might choose all these things, or just a few, but all we know at this point is that we have a lot to learn, and that we couldn't have picked a better community to learn and build with.

I invite you to follow along in our journey, quite a long road ahead of us, in curating our homestead and forever home. Here, I'll be documenting our progress, homesteading projects and adventures, and surely lessons learned for family and friends and anyone else who wants to learn alongside with us.
